The most common ways to call one’s father is ‘abba’ or ‘baba’, but when people talk about someone’s father in third person, they often say the word ‘baaf’.

  • Abba, tik asoin ni? – Dad, are you okay?
  • Abba, saa khaiṭa ni? – Dad, do you want to drink tea.
  • Ji abba. – Yes, dad.

  • Ṭainor baf khoi? – Where is her father?
  • Afnar baf kunano gesoin? – Where did your father go?
  • Ṭanor baf mara gesoin – His/her father passed away.
