Paan leaves
Faan is a commonly eaten Sylheti snack, enjoyed by many Sylhetis. It is often eaten with gua (betel nut), among other ingredients combined to make the treat a more enjoyable one.
Below are some examples of the word faan in use:
- Khaishia faan – A specific type of faan, named after the Khasi tribe native to Sylhet.
- Mita faan – Sweet faan, a distinct type of faan.
- Ḍuy fonor faan anchi – I got two pounds worth of faan.
